Trip to Norway 22.-26.5.2102

We (Eiri Sohlman, Mikael Kojo & Hanna Vaattovaara) visited Norway between 22.-26.5.2012. The purpose was to establish a network with our partner Finnmark University College and Norwegian pilot schools. We left Rovaniemi on Tuesday 22nd of May. the first stop was in Kirkenes where we were greeted by Ole Martin Johansen (HIFM). We had a preliminary meeting that night and planned the following pilot school visits.

On Wednesday we travelled to Pasvik school which is situated about 40 km from Kirkenes. We had a workshop with 8th grade students. Ole Martin and Eiri informed the school staff about the project and upcoming activities. Everyone was really excited about participating and we got some excellent material from the workshops. On Thursday morning we visited Vadso school. We discussed about the project with the school staff. We were given a brief tour around the school and its history. In the afternoon we headed towards Alta, our last destination in Norway. After arriving at the hotel we had a meeting about the common questionnaire with Ole Martin.
Friday morning started with a visit to Talvik school. Once again we had a workshop with students, this time with 6th graders. At the time of our visit, some of Norwegian teachers were on strike, but that didn’t influence our meetings.

Way back home started on Saturday morning. During the long drive, we discussed the trip together. It was very important that we visited these schools, because now we have a much better understanding about the youth living in these northern parts of Norway. The work continues…
