Nokkonen on yksi monipuolisimmista luonnonkasveistamme, jonka kaupallista potentiaalia ei ole juurikaan hy\u00f6dynnetty. Lapissa tuotetun nokkosen ravintorikkaus ja pohjoisten kasvuymp\u00e4rist\u00f6jen puhtaus voivat olla kilpailu- ja lis\u00e4arvotekij\u00f6it\u00e4, jotka tukevat lappilaisten nokkostuotteiden kysynt\u00e4\u00e4 ja markkinoita.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Nokkosen monipuolisten k\u00e4ytt\u00f6mahdollisuuksien vuoksi kiinnostus lajiin lis\u00e4\u00e4ntyy nopeasti. Vaikka nokkosen kysynt\u00e4 on ollut tasaisessa kasvussa, nokkosraaka-aineen saatavuus on hankaloittanut useiden yritysten tuotekehityst\u00e4 ja p\u00e4\u00e4sy\u00e4 markkinoille. Nokkosen viljelyll\u00e4 voidaan kuitenkin vaikuttaa raaka-aineen laatuominaisuuksiin ja varmistaa sen saatavuus.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Arktinen nokkonen (ARKNOKK) -hankkeessa kehitet\u00e4\u00e4n perinteist\u00e4 ja luonnonmukaista viljely\u00e4 jo olemassa olevien nokkostuotteiden raaka-aineeksi ja uusien tuotteiden kehitt\u00e4mist\u00e4 varten. Lis\u00e4ksi k\u00e4ynnistet\u00e4\u00e4n yhteisty\u00f6 ja luodaan arvoverkosto nokkosen tuotantoon ja jalostukseen lopputuotteeksi. Hankkeessa my\u00f6s testataan ainutlaatuisesti nokkosen hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4mist\u00e4 porojen talviruokinnassa.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Hankkeessa tuotetaan tietoa kansallisten ja kansainv\u00e4listen nokkosmarkkinoiden tilanteesta ja toimintatavoista, maantieteellisen alkuper\u00e4n vaikutuksista laatuun ja satoon, menetelmist\u00e4 taloudellisesti kannattavaan viljelyyn sek\u00e4 hyvinvointivaikutuksista porojen ruokinnassa.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Tavallisen poltinkarvaisen isonokkosen (Urtica dioica)<\/em> lis\u00e4ksi ARKNOKK-hankkeessa kartoitetaan harvinaisemman, poltinkarvattoman alalajin, pohjannokkosen (Urtica dioica ssp. sondenii) <\/em>hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4mismahdollisuuksia. Hanke vahvistaa ja monipuolistaa lappilaista luonnontuotealaa.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Pohjois-Pohjanmaan elinkeino-, liikenne- ja ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6keskus on my\u00f6nt\u00e4nyt hankkeelle rahoitukset Euroopan aluekehitysrahastosta (EAKR). Hanke toteutetaan 01.03.2020\u201328.02.2023 v\u00e4lisen\u00e4 aikana.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Nettle is one of Finland\u2019s most versatile wild plants, but its commercial potential is still largely untapped. The nutrients in nettle cultivated in Lapland and the cleanliness of Northern habitats may become competitive factors and providers of added value for Lapland to support the demand and market for Lapland\u2019s nettle products.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Interest in nettle is quickly growing due to its wide range of uses. Although the demand for nettle has steadily increased, poor availability of the raw material has hampered product development and access to the market in the case of many businesses. Cultivation of nettle can improve the quality of the raw material and ensure its availability.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
The Arctic Nettle project (ARKNOKK) will develop traditional organic cultivation methods for growing nettle to be used as the raw material for already existing products and new products to be developed. In addition, cooperation will be started and a value chain for the production and refining of nettle into end products will be created. The project will also test unique utilisation of nettle in the winter feeding of reindeer.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
The project will generate information on the current status and operating methods of the national and international nettle markets, the impact of geographical origins on the quality and yield of nettle, methods to be used in financially profitable cultivation and the impact of nettle feed on the wellbeing of reindeer.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
In addition to the common stinging nettle (Urtica dioica<\/em>), the project will survey the opportunities to utilise a rarer northern subspecies that does not have stinging hairs (Urtica dioica ssp. sondenii<\/em>). The project will promote Lapland\u2019s organic product industry and make it more versatile.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
The North Ostrobothnia Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment has granted the project funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project period is from 1 March 2020 to 28 February 2023.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) is in charge of the project in cooperation with the Lapland University of Applied Sciences.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
