My history:
I started to photograph around 10 years ago, when I was 12 years old. In that time, it was just a fun way to explore nature and everything that is around me. During these years, I have improved in my skills and my camera equipment is also better nowadays. Mainly I take photos of animals, especially birds, nature and landscapes. I am also interested in macro photographing, which means taking photos very close to the subject. The newest thing of my hobby is taking photos of food, and this takes us to the main subject.
Combining work and hobby:
After many years of photographing, I have got some chances to combine my hobby to my work as a waitress. In our company where I am working, we change the food menu about three times a year. After I started to work in Roka, I mentioned that my hobby is to photograph, and my superior said to me that I have to take photos of the new foods that are on the new menu.
Last time I took photos of our food was last week, when we changed the fall menu. These photos are for our social media accounts and marketing. Combining photography for my job is a win-win situation for me and the company. I get to publish my photos and the company gets some marketing materials, without paying extra for a professional photographer. So, my personal advice to everyone: If you have some skills or hobbies and there might be a possibility to combine that into your work, take the chance and combine those things, you never know where those things can take you to!
My future and dreams:
In the future I think that this opportunity that I have got, to take photos at work, can take me to places. There might be a chance that I could start to work as an entrepreneur and take photos of food, restaurants or combine it to the tourism business. Photos are a way of marketing your products or services, so I don´t think that their importance is going anywhere.
For many years I have had a dream that I would establish a company that offers wildlife photography tours for tourists and other people. Main thing would be to take photos of wild animals, as eagles, bears, bobcats and other more rare animals. Maybe someday you will visit my company…
Maybe after I have collected and saved enough tip money to buy a new camera!
