A breathtaking cliffside paradise

The closest thing to paradise that I have experienced has to be Uluwatu. Located on the southern tip of Bali, Uluwatu truly is a coastal gem where steep cliffs meet the waves of the Indian Ocean. From the cliffs of Uluwatu every sunset feel like magic as the sun sets to the ocean. It’s a must visit for surfers and for everyone dreaming of a laid-back vacation with lots of sun and beautiful scenery. As I sit here at the other side of the world, I can’t help but dream about being there soaking in its beauty and magic.

Breathtaking scenery with a pinch of Balinese culture

The first thing that comes to my mind when thinking of Uluwatu is its dramatic landscape. Imagine steep limestone cliffs with beautiful greenery spilling over the edges, with the ocean stretching out as far as the eye can see. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel small next to the beautiful nature giving it’s best. One of the most breathtaking spots is the Uluwatu Temple, right at the west tip of Uluwatu locates a stunning sea temple high up on a cliff. Watching the sun dip below the horizon from the temple is special. Golden light over the water, is magical. In Uluwatu temple you can also experience the traditional Balisene Kecak dance show. It’s a traditional Balinese dance preformed with fire during sunset. It’s a must see while in Uluwatu.

Legendary waves

Uluwatu is a dream destination for surfers. The waves in Uluwatu are legendary, and people travel from all over the world to surf them. Even though I’m not much of a surfer, there’s something captivating about watching the pros catch these gorgeous waves. Uluwatu’s beaches – like Padang Padang, Bingin, and Dreamland—are known for their white sand, crystal clear water and perfect conditions for surfing. The best way to spend the day in Uluwatu is by one of its beautiful beaches.

Peace and Luxury

Uluwatu is also home to some of the most luxurious resorts and cliffside villas in Bali. Many of these places are designed to blend seamlessly with the gorgeous nature in the area, offering jaw-dropping views and world-class amenities. If possible, during your Uluwatu trip you should stay in one of these resorts. You could spend your day in gorgeous environment lounging by an infinity pool that seems to merge with the ocean and enjoy all the luxuries that comes with staying in a place like this. It’s the perfect place to disconnect from the world and enjoy the present.

To do while in Ulu

  • Enjoy a sunny day in one of the gorgeous beaches (my favorite: Dreamland)
  • See the Kecak dance performance at the Uluwatu temple
  • Enjoy the sunset at Single Fin’s restaurant
  • Try out local food in one of many local restaurants
  • Go offline and try to enjoy the present moment

Final thoughts

For me Uluwatu became more than just a holiday destination—it’s a feeling. It’s the salty breeze in your hair, the sound of waves crashing against cliffs, the golden glow of a sunset, and the sense of peace that comes from being in a place so deeply connected to nature. Whether you’re chasing waves, exploring hidden beaches, laying in a beach all day or simply soaking in the beauty of it all, I’m sure you would be amazed.
