Have you ever just gotten bored in your daily life and routines? Have you ever watched a movie where people just get tired from their lives and decide to move to the another side of the world with no plan whatsoever? Well, I have. And here’s my story.
So, when I was 18, I decided to start tavelling. I grew up in a teeny tiny town and in my family we never really traveled abroad. So I decided to once and for all to leave for a year. I started looking for jobs abroad and ended up finding a host family in Ireland, where I was invited to work as an au pair. We made a contract for a full year.
I was nervous, of course, but also full of excitement of this brand new life experience. I would get to meet new people, see country I had never seen before, fly on a plane and see oceans under me and live a completely new life in new environment.
So off I went, with a backpack full of dreams and excitement. From the very moment that I arrived to this new country to the moment when I said “Good bye and see you again”, to this lovely country, I knew I would never be the same again.
I can tell you that it was definitely the best year of my life. I got so much new life experiences, made a lot new of new friends and learned to speak english in my every day life which has been an useful skill in work life.
Oh, how I miss that feeling. During this Covid-19 time the only thing that has gotten me through remote studying has from time to time been the past feeling that travelling in general gave me.
But at least now I get to plan for my next trip, prepare a bit more and I already know a little bit about living in other countries.
Me on my trip.
