Introducing my job and theatre students in Rovaniemi

 

Let me introduce myself: My name is Elina and I’m a student in Lapland University of Applied Sciences. I’m working in a youth association and I’m writing this blog as a student. The blog’s subject is very important to me.  I’m a Lapland’s theatre coordinator and my hobby is blogging theatre.

My specialty is to lead children’s and young person’s theatre school in the city of Rovaniemi. My tourism studies include a digital marketing course and whit this course I will get possibilities to learn more about blog writing. Now I will give a few tips on digital marketing for your theatre. Decide your theatre’s goals and targets.

This spring my goal is to use my new digital competence to make our Rovaniemi theatre organization a new website, start blogging with my colleague, share more on social media, and start using mail chimp. Digital marketing is a very relevant way to grow the theatre business and make theatre more familiar for citizens. What kind of marketing do you want to do in a digital environment?

 

In digital marketing very important thing is to know your theatre’s target group.

I’ll tell you who is the target group in our theatre school. Our customers are children and young people whose adults are looking children’s hobbies online. Buyers are adults whose children are interested in performing in theatre. Children can be very creative and energetic. Many of them like to tells stories and be on display. Theatre offers great way to express yourself. By choosing a theatre as a hobby, child can learn express themselves more bravely.

All of us are looking for a community group and ways to find new like-minded friends. We are looking for hobbies where we could be safe to ourselves and strengthen our self-confidence. Sometimes theatre hobby is a support and reinforcement for some of the children’s other hobbies. A communal theatre group offers all that.

Alternatively theatre’s customer is a person who wants to perform, participate in performance trips, and gain experience of success through it. Many of us are looking for a hobby that lacks an interesting and joyful leisure activity. What kind of target group your theatre has? What kind of needs do they have? You should consider your target group in digital marketing.

 

Keep in mind how you want your theatre’s customers to act.

Here is my list of functions, what our theatre school want’s to the customer and potential customer act:

  • Getting to know the theatrical art, theatre as a hoppy, and theatre school’s activities.
  • Direct purchase: registration for activities, commitment to long-term theatre studies.
  • Participating in theatre events: watching performances and participating in guided theatre activities, became interested in theatre and come to study in theatre school.
  • Participation in summer activities: short-term commitment, became interested in theatre and come to study in theatre school.
  • Participation in workshops: a look at theatrical art, became interested in theatre, and come to study in theatre school.
  • Purchasing a product: commitment to the community, commitment to long-term theatre studies.
  • To be active in social media, interested the theatre blog, communicating positively, and come to study in theatre school.

What kind of actions do you expect your theatre’s customers and potential customers to take to make your theatre grow, get customers involved, and be business profitable? Remember digital marketing encourages the customer to take action!

 

How will the customer find your theatre?

Nowadays all information is online or should be. To make your theatre meet the needs of your customers, you have to create a search-engine-optimized website. If you want your theatre to appear in search results, you should use keywords wisely and appropriately. What are the top keywords for your theatre’s digital marketing?

Don’t forget to create an interactive map with Google My Business. The service allows customers to find the location of the theatre, and customers can easily contact your organization.

In theatre’s digital marketing plan, you write a timetable for all your posts on the website, blog, and social media. You have to be very active and make high-quality content for inbound marketing.

Inbound means, that you have created great material on the internet and so your potential customer finds you by a search engine. Your content arouses customers’ interest. With the help of media, like images and YouTube videos, your theatre hits better the search results of your potential customers.

I’ll share a part of my digital marketing plan with you. Theatre’s continuous marketing means that markets its operations as planned with an annual clock concept. It includes pre-marketing, active marketing, and post-marketing. In my digital marketing plan I have divided our theatre’s activities into products. Digital marketing on winter season:

  1. Theatre studies for Children: Content Design and Production (New season will start in August)
  2. Basic Studies in Theatre Arts: Content Design and Production (New status will be launched in May)
  3. Youth Theatre: Content Design and Production (New season will start in August)
  4. Events/shows: pre-marketing (the next event will be held in May)
  5. Workshop activities: active marketing (the next workshop will be held in February)
  6. Summer activities: pre-marketing (summer camp will be held in June)
