I`m Sarianna, 24 years old student living in Rovaniemi. How is it living, working and tourism studies in Rovaniemi, Lapland? How the pandemic has affected? Working with tourism here has given me a spark of interest to learn and study more.

Study expectations

Studies in university of applied sciences have been interesting and variable. Therefore my expectations for this study unit are high. Digital marketing, how to plan it and accomplish it, is one thing i really am looking forward to learn. I am exited to learn about marketing and how i can practice it in my own work with tourism. I enjoy working with people from different cultures, and be able to produce experiences and develop them. Therefore i decided to study tourism in Lapland.

Tourism studies in the time of pandemic

Pandemic has affected people´s lives in many ways. At the moment, situation in the travel industry is challenging. Especially changing situation with restrictions has brought big challenges. Because of that, we need new ways for tourism and travelling in the future. This has affected also in my work at many ways. Due the restrictions, there is only distance studies available. Distance studying has also been quite challenging time to time. Therefore i really miss time at the campus sometimes.

  • City is smallbut has all the necessary services near by.
  • Great restaurant and travel services. Good job opportunities for travel students .
