Enontekiö is one of the most beautiful and peaceful place I’ve visited and I love the nature and silence in there. When you are looking for place to visit alone, with your family, friends or your furry friend consider visiting Enontekiö. You will not regret!
My happy place
When I was younger I always wanted to visit Lapland more. For couple years now I have had the opportunity to visit Enontekiö more often and I’ve loved it. It is always so relaxing to visit there and be able to relax and recharge batteries. Even couple days in nature doing different activities or just sitting by campfire I feel happy and full of energy. It is also good for my mental health and I find nature therapeutic.
In Enontekiö nature always finds way to amaze me time after time. Did you know they have eight seasons there?
In winter Enontekiö has only a little or none of daylight because of the polar night. During polar night sky is painted with beautiful pastel colors in the day and moon lights up evenings and nights. Polar night in Enontekiö is really beautiful time. Enontekiö has had polar night live in 2020-2021, you can watch time laps video here.
Autumn and spring are my favorite seasons because in autumn you can watch nature fall asleep for winter and waking up in spring. Summer is really beautiful time in Enontekiö but there is one minus, in summer there are a lot of mosquitos. Despite the mosquitos I can’t wait for the summer and to be able to go camping.
Travel to Enontekiö
Enontekiö is the third largest municipality in Finland so here is many things to do. Here is more information about travelling to Enontekiö but below I listed some things I’d consider. During Covid-19 in Enontekiö you are able to keep distance because you might not see many people during your trip.
Things to do in Enontekiö:
- Learn about Sámi culture
- Local history museum in Hetta
- Northern lights watching
- Husky safaris
- Ice fishing
- Snowmobiling, snowshoeing
- Paddling, mountain biking
- Climbing on Saana in Kilpisjärvi
When planning your trip to Enontekiö I recommend to:
- Stay long enough to see everything
- Research places to visit in advance
- Ask locals places to visit or tips for your trip
- Take a tent ang sleeping bag with you
- In winter take enough clothes with you
- To travel also off seasons
Also Enontekiö is very close to Norway so you can easily take day trip to for example Tromssa or Alta.
I hope you find time to visit Enontekiö and see all wonders nature can show.
