Do you like nature and being in ? Have you been hiking?
I like to be in nature a lot, that´s why I love hiking. I started the hike thanks to my cousin. She has a lot in Finland and abroad. I get a lot of tips from her about this. The best thing about hiking is the peace and quiet and of course the scenery you see. The word hiking means to me moving around in nature, sleeping in a tent and silence what I value a lot as a current city dweller. I haven´t done a lot of on long hikes yet, but my goal is to make one longer trip at least once a year. My dream is to get to hike in Norway. Maybe this year if possible.
If you enjoy being in nature you should try hiking!
So where the hike begins?
All hiking trips start with good planning. You have to plan a route for your hike. You should look for as much information as possible about where you are going from the internet. Hiking blogs are very good sources because there are people’s experiences of the place. If your friends or family have experienced hikers, ask them!
The planning of the route must take into account e.g. how many days are you there. There are many ways but here comes my tips. It is a good idea to make a list of equipment and food. First list you have to your clothes, hygiene, and equipment. Equipment should be carefully inspected. If you don’t have something you can buy or rent it. I would suggest renting or borrowing. for example, a tent, sleeping bag or backpack. The shoes should be really good as you walk a lot. When choosing clothes for your trip, check the weather forecast. The time of year affects it a lot.
Another list of all about the foods and snack. When it comes to food, you need to think about the amount and weight. Take only as much food as you eat. Pack light food because you must carry everything yourself. Take foods that don’t take much time to prepare. Don’t forget the delicacies, they taste there heavenly after a 20 mile hike!
My tips for hiking
- If you are going for the first time, bring a person who has hiking experience before.
- Learn to use a map and compass.
- Plan your trip well.
- Pack only the goods you need.
- Choose good shoes for the foot.
- Pack light food with you.
- Check the weather forecast.
There are many different National Parks in Finland. I have been on longer hiking trips for before. In the of 2020, I visited in Urho Kekkonen National Park for seven days. In the autumn of 2021, I visited in Halti for ten days. In the winter of 2021, I visited in Pyhä-Luosto National Park for five days. Would you like to hear more about my hiking trips? which one of these you would like to hear first, comment and tell!
Hopefully I got you even a little excited about hiking or moving around in nature! 😊
Best regards,
Maria
