When is the best time to see the autum colours the Arctic Lapland?
There is an old joke, that says that the autum coulours- season starts at 10th of September at 10 am. It is quite true, because the best time to see them in Northern Finland is typically in September and early October. Autum colours or fall foliage is called ruska in Finland.

What is the autum colours-season?
This period is when the leaves on leafy trees begin to change colour, displaying beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow. The exact timing can vary from year to to year and may be influenced by factors such as weather conditions or location. Here you can see some photos from Enontekiö. Or go and see live footage!

Planning a Ruska-trip
Keep in mind that the timing of autum colours can be quite fleeting, so it is a good idea to plan your visit during this period to maximize your chances of experiencing the vibrant fall foliage. Additionaly, if you are intressed in seeing the Northern lights (Aurora borealis), this time of year can offer a good opportunity to withness this phenomenon too, when the nights get darker and longer.

Let me hear from your trips, please share your experiences with me, thank you!
Beautiful pictures! Only recently I have been getting interested in going to Lapland after 20 years. And the season that I would choose is definitely autumn. The only thing is to choose a location, and where to go. Your post gave me some tips that I could consider!
