Event marketing 2.0 eBook focuses on how to boost social media marketing. The eBook guides the reader through different social media channels that can be used for marketing and how to use them and what are the benefits from using these different channels for social media marketing.
Instead of using traditional marketing channels as telephone, email, or fax, you can reach much more audience and consumers through different social media channels and be much more cost efficient, if not completely cost free.

Introduction
” Once upon a time, event marketing consisted of simple, tried-and-true methods of paid advertising and PR outreach to ensure attendance at your events. To earn coverage, all you needed to do was designate a contact for media requests and craft engaging press releases, and the local newspapers would alert everyone in town.”
Nowadays hardly anyone reads, or orders newspapers in actual paper form, as news can be read online as well and it is easy to find any information by google, or even through click headers on news sites.
“Social media has fundamentally shifted the way people gather and digest information. As a result, event planners need to understand and leverage social media to reach potential attendees in the places they go for information online, as well as in real life.”
Social media has changed and influenced the way of marketing in many aspects, and I believe it will have even bigger impact in new ways of marketing in the future, as new social media platforms and websites / applications are being created.
Reading about the different aspects of the eBook towards social media marketing, I found it very interesting and useful to learn more about the ways of using different social media channels in different ways of marketing and making sure to reach the targeted group of people.
Arguments of the text
The ebook focuses on these main points of social media marketing and how to benefit from them:
- What’s All the Buzz About?
- 3 Rules for Event Marketing 2.0
- Craft an Event Social Media Strategy
- Build a Social Infrastructure for Your Event
- -Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube
- Social Media-tize Your Event Websites
- Integrate Social Media with Event Registration
This is a very wide concept, and it is hard to summarize everything, but the ebook focuses on the main social media channels to boost marketing and gives very detailed instructions how to do so.
I would argue with the following sentences because,
“While it seems everyone is jumping on the social media bandwagon these days, don’t worry, you won’t be left behind! “
Not everyone is using social media, at least not all of the main channels of it or knows how to fully advantage from them.
“Look at all online comments, no matter the sentiment, as a way of improving your events in the future – a free focus group! ”
These days anyone can write anything on social media, and I would argue that some of the comments and reviews should not be taken too seriously, as it is easier for people to write long, sometimes false reviews online rather than in person.
Conclusion
The main impact of this ebook was learning about the main ways of social media marketing – which social media pages to use, and how. I think this is a very good ebook that explains in a short but easy way the basics of social media marketing and how to use the main channels for it. I personally learned a lot about these main social media channels, especially the ones that I have not used before as twitter for example.
