Jenni from Rukatunturi

I’m Jenni and I want to tell you that everything is possible if you just give it a chance. I have fifteen years of experience working in early childhood education as a teacher and also daycare center manager. I like my current job very much but I also dreamed something else. This post is a little story about that.

Part 1. Dreaming of better future
About couple years ago. Me and my husband started thinking our family life in a new way. We have two children, and we lived a basic family life in Vantaa. We both worked a lot in big companies. I liked to work there but it took very much time and my personal strength. I noticed that I didn’t have the energy to go out in nature in my free time, even though it was important to us as a family. Also, my husband had considering changing job.
Part 2. Time for change
Then things started to happen, my husband got an opportunity by change to work at Rukakeskus. There was also opportunity to work remotely because of covid. We decided to check that opportunity and started looking apartments from Ruka. Because of covid there was a lot of demand in the area, and we couldn’t find any.
Even though we had previously discussed and decided that we are not going to build our own house but things was about to change. In spring 2021 we heard about free plots in the area and soon decided to start building project. We moved here in summer 2022 and later December our home was ready, then we spent first Christmas in our brand-new house.

Part 3. Living the life in Ruka
Moving 800 kilometers to north from old neighborhoods and all the closest relatives was big life change. It was also big lifestyle change. Living in Ruka is much more relaxed and nature is literally at the back door. Moving to Ruka has also changed my perspective towards my studies. Living in tourist center has given my lot of new thoughts about my future work. I have started even thinking possibilities about my own business.
