Day 1, meeting the Dalarna students

We arrived to Dalarna on Monday at noon. We took taxies to the hostel and quickly did the check in and then went to have something to eat in Ikea. Then it was time to go to the Dalarna Högskolan (Uni) and have a lecture from a woman working for VisitDalarna. After that we made the groups we were supposed to work with. In the evening we had a small get together and went to the University pub to have something small to eat.

Day 2, study trip

On Tuesday we had a study trip to the Falu Mine, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We had a guided tour inside the mine. Our guide was a 75 year old man, who used to be a teacher but now was working in the Falu mine. I enjoyed the tour, the guide was really good. It seemed that he used to work in the mine. He also spoke really good English! After the mine we went to the Dalarna Museum, but unfortunately all the information cards there were in Swedish, so I did not get that much out of it. Even though I understand Swedish, I would have preferred English, then maybe I would have taken a closer look to what was on display. Final stop was at the Gamla Stabergs’ garden, which was the place where the master miners used to live. To be honest, it was a small and pretty place, but that’s all.  In the evening we had a little party in the lobby of a local student house. Unfortunately we were so tired and needed to get up so early on the next morning that we left quite early.

The Falu mine. I really liked the tour inside the mine. The man guiding us, was truly the right man for the job !

Day 3, group work

Wednesday was the actual day to group working and developing the destination. At the first it was challenging to do the work. We could see that the Dalarna students were not used to do this kind of assignments, and therefore it was at some points very challenging. We worked the whole day starting from 9 am until 6 pm. One of our Italian group member made lunch for us. It was super good! We had risotto, bread with cheese and a cake made out of buns. She showed us a great deal of hospitality and was so sweet towards us. In the evening we went to a night club which hosted taco nights. I think it is a good way to expend the time the nightclub is open for customers. And it was only 49 SEK, and you were able to eat as much as you can!

Day 4, presentations

The day started with the group works. Luckily this day was a lot smoother with the group working and we were able to create a nice product for our target group, which id important to the region. After we knew what to do, we finished the presentation quite fast. For lunch we went to Ikea, again. (Well, it is cheap) After the lunch we went through the presentation and finished a summary of the presentation, which was an additional task for the Dalarna group. Then it was time for the presentations. It was quite a heavy load of presentations. From 3pm until 7pm, but on the other hand we have a free Friday and are able to spend it in Stockholm! I am super exited, I have never been in Stockholm! But yeah, back to Thursday. So after the presentations we went to have pizza in Pizza Hut. It was super good, but I was super hungry, so probably even a  piece of cardboard would have been delicious. After that, back to the hotel, a quick shower and a nice conversation with the other girls and Teija by a cup pf hot chocolate. And off to bed, ahhh.

Hejdå!
