Welcome in Kierinki!

On the 11th of October we had a chance to visit a village, called Kierinki. Even though the number of inhabitants is low, the area is quite big for the village. People make money mostly from agricultural activities and the tourism also has an impact.

We can find information about them in their website and also at booking.com.  They attend in social media like facebook.

It was around a 1,5 hour long trip to get there by bus. It was quite tiiring so there was no surprise that almost everyone was sleeping on the bus. On the way we saw many reindeers on the road, but they didn’t really cared about the bus.

When we arrived the owner and her daughter welcomed us in their business. They talked about its history and how they managed to renovate the buildings and run the business. After the short introduction, they showed us the apartments, what they offer to the tourists to stay, the dining rooms, bar, the grocery store and there is also a gas station at the village.

They have many houses with 2-4-6 capacity. It is furnished with originally traditional equipments, or renovated ones. There are planty of arts on the wall, which have been made by the owner and her family. They are really talented in painting and creating stylish arts.

After we visited the accomodations and bars, we went to the lake where is a beautiful landscape and an oppotunity for boating and grilling afterwards. There is also a traditional Finnish sauna, so people can enjoy their time there too.

After our trip, we went back to the restaurant place, where we were welcomed with warm and delcious lunch and dessert also.

I could feel the enthusiasm and passion as the owner and her daughter talked about their company. This is their life!

Welcome to the world of play and sports!

Just a brief introduction: Lappset Group Ltd. is a company who provides play and sport equipments and they also produce street furnitures.

More in details…They not just selling their products. They selling the experience, the facilities to keep your body healthy and strong. In my opinion their promo video shows the sense of their value they want to represent really nicely. The company was established in 1970 an now it has 9 subsidiaries in Estonia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK, China, USA.

I haven’t heared about this company before but it caught my attention. I can see the potential in it. We had a visitor, Jenni Tapio from the marketing and sales side of the company. She told us many interesting thing, regarding the marketing strategy and the path they follow.

Their main customers are ex. arthitects who gives them teir ideas which need to be take into  consideration during the producing process. There are many unique theme parks which couldn’t be organized without Lappset Group. Here is some example:

Angry Birds park in Rovaniemi
A colourful public playground full of suprises in Latvia
Cosy Peter Rabbit themed playground in the UK

They have also created amazing sport parks. I found pretty intresting that they work together with an official fittness blogger who write some useful information in the company blog and mention the Lappset Group in her own blog as well. I think this is a great way to wider the scale of people who knows about the company and their productivity.

What about the marketing strategy?

Janni told us a lot what they are doing on the marketing department. How they measure datas, analyze and create a conclusion. It is a hard work but worth doing it in order to have a clear view and in this way they can offer more personolized offers to the customers.

Beyond this it is important to mention the advertising part too. You can see below,  what kind of processes they do.

They working on B2B side mostly so they focus on LinkedInas a platform to reach customers and they also write a blog. On the other hand they use other social media platforms for the end users, such as facebook, twitter, instragram or pinterest. It is really important that share only relevant contents on the proper platform.

I feel that this presentation was really useful as we learned about the methods they use and of course the values about the company represent.

Learning Café

In this blog post I would like to share my experiences in this “Learning Café” method.

We worked in groups with 5-6 members, so we could split the whole article between us. Our topic was the Branding in the inbound age, which I found pretty ineteresting. My part was about how to build an engagement between your company ad your customers.

I would like to mention 3 interesting points about my part of the article. Firstly you need to segmententing the customers, which means definding their needs and track their habits. The second and the most important is the concent, what you create. You need to be creative, because as I have learned content=brand, which means if you publish somthing boring content, that is going to define your brand as well. You need to be aware that being on the social media can be helpful, but can be harmful at the same time. Thirdly, the social presence is about the channels you use to reach your target group. So you don’t need to be on every social platform, only those where are your “buyer persona” is.

I shared this part of the article with Gini and we both found the same parts interesting and relevant so there was no disagree between us. It was a great feedback for me, that I have done my homework well.

In the beginneng of the Learning Café, everybody in our group discribed their topics. That was importat, because 1 member of our group needed to stay, while the others were mooving around to learn from the other groups. We prepared a mind-map, which was represented in a few main points our topic, such as Creating brand for customers, Putting brand into play, Monitoring the brand, Measuring the brand and the conclusion.

Then we listened several useful project about marketing. In my view it was a great way to learn from our classmates. I have seen that they put many effort in their work. The most interesting topic for me was the Digital Marketing, because they made a short, meaningful and clear presentation.

After this “tour”, the teachers provided us some delicious cakes and coffee. In the end each group needed to take an other presentation not just for us, but for Tuija and Ritva as well.

I hope I can take part more lesson like this. I really enjoyed!

PS.: I have already started to write my own blog about our life in Rovaniemi. Although it is in hungarian, there are many images worth watching. I feel that this subject helped me how to create a blog in a more professional way, so I will use these methods lateron.
