How did I end up in here Lapland UAS?

I come across this question from time to time in my studies and in working life. The way my introduction usually goes is that I tell my name, how old I am and how did I end up here? And this is how it usually goes. My name is Milla, I am 22 years old and I am from Rovaniemi, Lapland. However, I am not originally from here, as I grew up even more up north in Finland, originally in a small town called Inari. In 2015 my studies brought me to Rovaniemi to study in high school, after which I decided to stay here during my university studies as well. Thus, now I am here, a Milla who is about to graduate from Lapland UAS.

The journey through university

During my university studies I got to experience and try out quite many things. From travelling to working and having fun. If I would have to name the top three experiences I had, they would be:

  • Internship in Canary Islands
  • Study exchange in Slovenia
  • Advanced training in Lapland Hotels

I know I did not place them in an order, but the reason is I have always hated naming my Top 3’s or my favourites, let it be colours, foods or songs. I cannot choose. Even naming these was a bit hard. My internship and study exchange were not always the most pleasant ones (but let’s not go into detail here, that needs a whole another blog post), but they are probably the times I will remember most vividly from my studies. During the months I lived aborad, I experienced quite fun things there and viewed some quite amazing scenery. My advanced training was the third experience I highlighted from my studies, and the reason is that I really enjoyed working there and it actually provided me with a working place after I graduate, which is always great.

So, what now?

Well now, I am in my final steps of my studies, about to graduate in December. My biggest stumbling stone is my thesis, which will most likely be the reason if I do not graduate on time. I could thus say that if I would have to name the top three most stressful things in my studies, they would be:

  1. writing the thesis
  2. conducting the thesis research
  3. completing the thesis

With these, I had no trouble placing them in an order.

If you had to choose, what would be your top 3’s in your studies? If you would like to hear more stories related to experiences in Lapland UAS, go and have a look what Karoliina has to say about her studies.

  1. Tiny details:
    * the ALT text ends with a period (even if it is not a complete sentence. That makes the screen reader pause.
    * do not use hashtags with #, just tags, write them with spaces (MTI Lapland, soon to be graduate…). Add them in the editor from the right column, not in the actual blog text.
