When you ask anyone on the streets in Taiwan, where is the place we can find enriched culture and literary tourism? Everyone will give the same answer: Tainan.
Explore Tainan – the favorite destination of Taiwanese
In 2020, Tainan County has been the most popular tourism city in Taiwan. Tainan City is the ancient capital of Taiwan, it is situated on the southwestern coastal plains of Taiwan. The climate is warm all year round. Tainan enjoys more hours of sunshine per day than any other place in Taiwan and has an average temperature of 24.1 degree. Despite of the historical and cultural attractions, Tainan is also famous for its amazing natural landscape and the well-known agriculture and aquaculture industries. Tourists also come for its famous cuisine culture.
“Tainan is the very place where people could realize dreams, strive for success, fall in love and marry to significant others, and then lead a comfortable and pleasant life.” – Shi-Tao Ye, Elderly Scholar of Taiwanese Literature.
National Museum of Taiwan Literature
Thinking about literary tourism, you can not miss National Museum of Taiwan Literature. Established in 2003, the museum was the first dedicated to literature. The building was the old city hall completed in 1916. Visitors can find different exhibitions related to literature and the hundred years of development of Taiwan history. Historical Attractions in Tainan
There are seven “class one historical monument” in Taiwan. Four of them were selected to be the must-see attractions of Tainan and I would like to visit there myself:
Expect the historical monument, there are also some special shopping mall and streets which are related to culture and literary tourism. Blueprint Cultural & Creative Park is famous for creative and cultural industries and shops. Shennong Street is a hub of culture creation and art distribution in recent years for young art enthusiasts in Tainan. The elevator’s floor indicator in Hayashi Department Store is the old style type, and it is probably the only remaining one in Taiwan, which preserves the authentic feel of the place.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, I wasn’t able to participate in the study trip to Kainuu this year. However, I would still like to experience the project and plan the trip myself. That’s why I am travelling to the most famous cultural and literary tourism destination in Taiwan. I am really looking forward to the trip, this is not the first time I travel to Tainan, but Tainan always gives me surprise.
