Hello there, after two years of living and working in Rovaniemi, I’d want to share my brief experience with you! Thank you for taking the time to read this story with me. I’m Frey, and I’m coming from Vietnam.
About me
I’m a Vietnamese boy who grew up in the southern region of Vietnam. I was studying at Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh University of Technology when I chose to take the Lapland University of Applied and Sciences admission test. I’ve had a great experience in Vietnam with my family and buddies. However, the desire to travel the world inside me never goes away. Also, my mother often told me about Santa Claus when I was a youngster. I’d always wanted to meet Santa Claus in person. As a result, when my friends informed me that he had passed up the opportunity to study at Kemi, I resolved to make every effort to pursue my dream.
Experience in Rovaniem
A Brief Life Experience
I went to Rovaniemi on an autumn day. The weather at that time was pleasant and comfortable for me. However, when it came to November, it started to get cold and snowy. That was also the first time I had seen the snow fall, seeing the shape of the snowflake was so stunning. When it came to December, I experienced a temperature of minus 30 degrees Celsius. Just breathing was enough to freeze my eyelashes and hair by with the steam.
In Rovaniemi, I made many friends from all over the world, such as Finland, Russia, Canada, Taiwan, Japan, Spain. It was wonderful to learn about their culture and lifestyle. People in Rovaniemi were really nice; they helped me feel safe despite being so far from from home. The furnitures in my house are collected from the people around, in the donations. My room eventually got all of the necessary tools that my friends always preferred it for gatherings. I did the same thing for newcomers when they did not know where to buy those thing, and I felt very happy. This is one of the beautiful acts I learnt in Finland.
Brief Work Experience
I had a job and worked at Himo Restaurant. Here, I gained professional experience and understanding in the food and beverage business. Despite the fact that the manager and chef were quite severe in terms of job performance, they were constantly concerned about the safety of their employees. The manager was constantly mindful of my study schedule so that I could perform my best. In addition, it was the chef who taught me how to operate under pressure and how to deal with stress. It was a memorable experience.
This is my brief experience living in Rovaniemi. I’m now in Vietnam due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but I’m looking forward to returning to Rovaniemi. There are still many opportunities to be explored; follow me and I will keep you updated on my new knowledge as well as unforgettable memories!
