During the two – day trip to Tukums, I have realized that this municipality is a raw gemstone in Tourism industry. With a fascinating natural and cultural resources, Tukums municipality will be a famous attraction in Latvia. In this blogpost, I will be your online tour guide for a short tour to Tukums – Latvia. We will now discover some natural and cultural places of this municipality by an online tour.
1. Valguma Pasaule
Valguma Pasaule is a historical building located in Kemeri National Park. This historical building is now considered as a country resort since it offers more than just accommodations and restaurant. Come to Valguma Pasaule, you then will be surrounded with tranquil nature and lots of outdoor activities. We had a chance to make a 30 minute long experience on the Barefoot trail. It was an interesting experience for me since that was the first time I ever walked on different natural surfaces such as beach sand, mud, wood, trees, stones. These kinds of natural surfaces brough various sensations to me – enjoying, relax or even a bit painful. But this Barefoot trail is not just a tourism experience it is also a natural medication for our health.
2. Kemeri Water Tower
The Kemeri Water Tower is the only water tower in Latvia that combines its primary role of providing water management services with public usage. It is also a piece of Latvia’s industrial history and an architectural landmark of state importance. Constructed in the style of classical architecture, the building serves as both an observation tower and a technological structure. There used to be drinking water and mineral water reservoirs inside the tower, but now there is just a 300 cubic meter drinking water reservoir. At 42 meters above the ground, there is a viewing area on the tower’s upper platform where you may take in Kemeri’s surroundings. On the second floor of the building there is a photo machine which give you a vintage picture with 19th century’s background. Surrounding this water tower are some historical ruins and a gorgeous garden.
3. Tukums Old Town
Tukums is a charming little town with a well-preserved historical center, old wooden buildings, and lovely gardens that is around 100 kilometers from Riga. It brings a feeling of retro films to me. Every single house has its own beauty but still remain the common in vintage architecture. All along these narrow streets, you will see cats which is said to be a main theme of Tukums. You can also see some monuments such as Tukums Friendship Tree or Zigfrīds Anna Meierovics.
4. Tukums as an experience
Generally, Tukums is a gorgeous raw gem to me. It will need more marketing and also investment to promote and enhance its natural and cultural beauty. People will be surprised by its resources of nature and cultural heritage. Tukums attracts me by walking trails and castles that were built in different centuries. There are plentiful activities that I have not had enough time and chance to try in Tukums yet. This is a reason that makes me want to visit Tukums again.
