Welcome (again) to July’s blog posts! In the previous blog, we’ve gone through some must-try activities for tourists. This time I will introduce one of the extremely interesting experiences that visitors are highly recommended to take part in when coming to Tukums municipality, Latvia – walking through the forest on a barefoot trail. Feel free to check whether this type of outdoor activity can satisfy demanding nature lovers or not.

Valguma Pasaule Recreation Centre

After more than thirty minutes of driving, we arrived at the Valguma Pasaule country resort for the opportunity to connect with nature in a more unique way – without shoes.

Valguma Pasaule is located in the middle of a forest next to the Valgum Lake. With the advantage of being surrounded by nature, besides accommodations, they also offer a number of outdoor activities suitable for athletes, fishermen or simply nature lovers such as cycling, hiking, fishing, bird watching…

Barefoot trail

The Barefoot trail is covered with completely natural materials originating from Latvia such as boulders and millstones, wood chips, cones, seashore sand, Ķemeri healing mud… For the next thirty minutes, I immersed myself in the wild beauty of the environment, stimulating my five senses, especially my feet.

An experience filled with laughter…

…and of course, screams.

Even though it looks painful, there are certain benefits for your health.

  1. Strengthen leg muscles, ligaments and joints, which also supports the lower back
  2. Enhance blood circulation
  3. Relieve headaches
  4. Reduce blood pressure
  5. Improve balance both physically and mentally

Healing feet, healing soul

Now is the time to shake off my fatigue and refresh myself with the post-experience service. The warmth of herbal water and tea dispelled the cold after the rain. With teachers and classmates around, I enjoyed the drink while talking to each other, slowly letting my feet, as well as my body, recover.

Soaking feet in hot water with some herbs and rose petals while drinking herbal tea in a glass cup of Valguma Pasaule after the barefoot trail
After a long journey, what’s better than washing your muddy feet in warm water and relaxing with a cup of hot herbal tea?

If nature in your imagination is a vast space filled with the colorful shades of trees, cool refreshing water and the chirping of birds; or seemingly endless fields and sometimes with the presence of livestock, you certainly won’t be able to ignore this invitation from Latvia’s nature.
