Hello and welcome to read my blog post about upcoming trip! This blog post is written by a woman in her 20’s who is on her way becoming tourism professional. Graduation from Lapland UAS is starting to look bright ahead which is exiting. Where did the years go? It feels like we just started our studies. However, we have couple more courses to work on before it. One of them is International Destination Development Project where we have opportunity to travel to Latvia and help Tukums region to develop nature based tourism. Our group chose specifically nature tourism because we all love to be in nature which helps us to relax.
The country is not familiar from before. I actually have never visited any of the Baltic countries. The first image and probably only one what pops in the head while I am thinking of Latvia is beautiful and colourful old town of Riga. However, our focus during the intensive week is Tukums which is located around 60 kilometres from the capital of Latvia. When this place was first mentioned during the lecture, it rang no bells for me.
Versatile nature offers many opportunities for tourism
After doing some research of the area, my interest grew a lot. The municipality of Tukums has great selection of old and unique architecture. The Jaunmoku Palace is great example for this which is also known as Forest Museum. The nature of the area is versatile because there are forests as well as the seaside. This gives great opportunities for nature tourism. Kemeri National Park has beautiful duckboard trails through forest and lakes. Pictures from the national park looks just like from a dream! I would love to sit by the Baltic Sea and listen the sound of the waves while the sun is setting down. It seems like Latvia has a lot to offer for a nature loving tourist. However, the country is not well known for its beauty, so it is truly a hidden gem by Baltic Sea.

Here you can find more information of Latvia’s versatile nature tourism if you would like to know more! I cannot wait to explore Latvia because nothing makes me more excited than studying in the most practical way as possible! You guys can join on the journey through this blog posts. So, should we start this adventure?
A nice post on your pre-experience!
