Nomadic Hub of Arctic Art education

Group around a Campfire in Laavu

A key outcome of the Nordplus Horizontal project was the development of the Nomadic Hub, a higher education pedagogical model for Arctic art education. The model integrates digital distance learning, co-creation, and field school implementation within selected local communities.

The Nomadic Hub applies dialogical and participatory, art-based methods to promote networking, knowledge exchange, and new forms of collaboration in Arctic art education.

Grounded in the values of sustainability, social justice, and well-being, the approach places particular emphasis on Indigenous and multiethnic communities, as well as on children and youth in local schools.

The goal was to foster respect, cultural sensitivity, and both cultural and social sustainability in the Arctic region. Active participation and consultation of Indigenous and other local communities in planning and knowledge production are central. Intergenerational dialogue and community-driven decision-making formed the core of the initiative.

The Nomadic Hub for AAE reinforces Nordic perspectives and values as part of a broader Arctic and circumpolar discourse and worldview.
