Photo: Emilia Tuononen, 2024.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In Karajok, on the S\u00e1mi region of Norway, key local partners for the AAE was the S\u00e1mi Center for Contemporary Art (S\u00e1mi D\u00e1iddaguovdd\u00e1\u0161) and the Karasjok School. In addition to the University of Lapland, the event was also supported by Ume\u00e5 University from Sweden, Nord University from Norway, and the University of Greenland. Photo: Sara Rylander, 2024.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the workshop, we focused on what kind of words, images, colours, and movements the river brought to mind. The subject started with a gallery visit, then explored through painting, which expanded into a performance on the frozen Karasjok River. The topic was also expressed through drawing, carving, photographing and sculpting in clay.
