During Rievdans second trip to Kárášjohka, we did a street painting workshop. This is the report from the Kárášjohka class on how they felt the street painting went.
Our idea in this project was to paint a reindeer head with cloudberries. We chose to paint that because reindeer herding is a part of who we are and important for our culture and cloudberries are the gold of the tundra. The workshop was fun because we got to paint and do something new every time. Nothing was really challenging because those who held the workshops were great at explaining and helping us.

We were very pleased with our painting that symbolizes trees and fish that should not be cut down or killed.

In the workshop we first drew what we were going to paint outside, and we painted on the walking path. We chose to paint a motorcycle because we like to drive it, and we chose a Kawasaki. We had fun in the workshops inside, but outside was not as fun. Drawing cross on paper went well, but it was more difficult to paint on the asphalt. The green motorbike looks good and is fast. I liked the green motorbike.

We liked panting, it was really fun. First, we were thinking of painting a reindeer, because it is important to both of us. We weren’t allowed so we thought add a gákti to the reindeer, and that was our idea. We had the best painting.
