The theme of the conference was \u00e1rbediehtu<\/em>, traditional knowledge. Traditional knowledge touches Indigenous peoples very deeply and on many levels \u2013 it is not just a collection of facts or skills, but an essential part of S\u00e1mi culture, identity, and worldview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main objective of the Youth Council is to promote the cultural and language rights of S\u00e1mi youth around Finland and to strengthen S\u00e1mi youths\u2019 sense of belonging to S\u00e1mi culture. The Youth Council also prepares statements, initiatives, and other declarations for the S\u00e1mi Parliament that relate to S\u00e1mi youth or their living conditions. In the Rievdan art workshop, participants created image transfer artworks using their own photographs on wooden surfaces. They expressed thoughts or statements on the theme of change and will also participate in the project’s final exhibition in Inari in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next day in the postcard workshop, participants had the opportunity to draw and paint meaningful or important places related to the conference\u2019s \u00c1rbditehu (Traditional Knowledge) theme. The postcards were later in August included as part of the R\u00e1hkis b\u00e1iki installation in Rovaniemi, at the Valo Gallery exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
