Two months ago the Rievdan project group attended the opening event for the community art pieces Min Muorra<\/em> (eng. Our tree) and Tarinoiden mets\u00e4<\/em> (eng. Forest of stories) in Vuoh\u010d\u010du. Held in the Vuoh\u010d\u010du school cafeteria, the event brought together students, staff and the project group to celebrate the street paintings created during the previous workshops. The project provided gingerbread cookies and warm juice for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project group presented a video made from the documentation of the art pieces and Korinna read out loud some of the stories behind the trees the students had written. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event ended in front of the old pine tree, which served as the inspiration for the Min Muorra<\/em> street art installation. Mathis Ole Vars got the whole school group together to joik Nils-Aslak Valkeap\u00e4\u00e4\u2019s, \u00c1illoha\u0161’s, famous joik, which is also regarded as the national joik of the S\u00e1mi people, S\u00e1mi eatnan duoddariid<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next workshops in December were also planned during the trip, as there were two new project students with us, Milla and Hanna. As the rest of the project group were busy discussing new project possibilities with the local teachers, the project students surveyed the location in preparation for the upcoming workshops. The new project students will be introduced in future posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
