In this blog post, I want to share the experiences I made during our company visit in Kierinki.<\/p>\n

In the morning of the 11th<\/sup> of October 2018, we went by bus to the small village called Kierinki to visit the company \u201cKieringin Loma\u201c<\/a>. It is located in the middle of Lapland, in the wilderness of Sodankyl\u00e4.<\/p>\n

What is the company doing?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The company is providing a farm which offers a different kind of accommodations like cottages, tents, hotel rooms and even caravan spots. Besides, other parts of the farm are a shop with caf\u00e9, a small gas station, a restaurant, and even a bar.<\/p>\n

The cottages of the holiday village give visitors an impression of the Lappish lifestyle. Small red or yellow wooden houses with a view into the wildness.<\/p>\n

\nKeep it original and unique!<\/strong><\/p>\n

During our tour, we could see how passioned the owner and her daughter are about their little village. All the buildings are designed traditionally and are surrounded by art. This is an important fact for the family. Some pictures are even made by the daughter. With all these details they make the village more unique. A good example is the restaurant. The ground is from the 19th<\/sup> century, they only serve silver cutlery and all the furniture is second hand, to keep it authentic and classy.<\/p>\n

What can I do in Kierinki?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The company offers a lot of different activities<\/a>, it depends on which season you’ll visit the village. Visitors can go fishing, rent a boat, go skiing, visit husky farms or visit a huge reindeer farm. In summer a lot of events take place. Mostly there are some country music events and you can chill outside at the bar and enjoy a cold beer for example. Check out their Facebook<\/a> page to see what\u2019s going on!<\/p>\n

What about the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sustainable, environmental tourism is a big issue for the owners. Their vision is to create a network about this important topic and discuss how many people Lapland can take before nature gets destroyed. Another crucial point is to support your local and uses 100% local ingredients (they already use 80%).<\/p>\n

In my opinion, this is a really important topic, to care about the beautiful landscape of Lapland. We should take more action, and this is what the owners do. It is a great begin of starting something big and being more considerate with our planet.<\/p>\n

In the end, I want to thank you for this interesting tour and the great food we got during our visit. I really enjoyed it! I would recommend it to everyone who comes to Lapland.<\/p>\n
