T\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 on ty\u00f6yhteis\u00f6n kielitietoisuus ja joustavuus kielikysymysten ratkaisuissa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Suomalainen ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4 on muuttunut muutamassa vuosikymmeness\u00e4 moninkertaisesti aiempaa monikulttuurisemmaksi. Syit\u00e4 on helppo luetella aina talouden ja ty\u00f6markkinoiden globaalistumisesta v\u00e4est\u00f6n vanhenemiseen ja siit\u00e4 aiheutuvaan osaajapulaan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Helppo on my\u00f6s ennustaa, ett\u00e4 kehityskulku jatkuu edelleen. Esimerkiksi valtioneuvoston julkaisussa Koulutus- ja ty\u00f6perusteisen maahanmuuton tiekartta 2035 todetaan, ett\u00e4 hallitus pyrkii ty\u00f6per\u00e4isen maahanmuuton kaksinkertaistamiseen vuoteen 2030 menness\u00e4. Tavoite saavutetaan houkuttelemalla maahamme niin sanottuja kansainv\u00e4lisi\u00e4 osaajia, lis\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 ulkomaalaisten tutkinto-opiskelijoiden m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4 ja pyrkim\u00e4ll\u00e4 siihen, ett\u00e4 entist\u00e4 suurempi osa heist\u00e4 my\u00f6s j\u00e4\u00e4 suomalaiseen ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kehitys on johtanut suomalaisilla ty\u00f6paikoilla uudenlaiseen tilanteeseen: ennen melko homogeeninen kieliymp\u00e4rist\u00f6 on kirjavoitunut. Yh\u00e4 useammat ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4t \u2013 niin suomenkieliset kuin muita ensikieli\u00e4 puhuvat \u2013 tekev\u00e4t ty\u00f6t\u00e4 kielill\u00e4, jotka eiv\u00e4t ole heid\u00e4n vahvimpia kieli\u00e4\u00e4n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tutkimusta ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4n kielitilanteen muutoksesta on k\u00e4ynniss\u00e4 eri painotuksin esimerkiksi Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4ss\u00e4 (Minna Sunin ryhm\u00e4) ja Tampereella (Niina Liljan ryhm\u00e4). Itse teemme tutkimus- ja kehitysty\u00f6t\u00e4 Helsingin yliopistossa k\u00e4ynniss\u00e4 olevissa hankkeissa Osallistumisen keinot monikielistyv\u00e4ss\u00e4 ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4 ja Kielibuusti. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tekstiss\u00e4 esittelemme ja pohdimme monikielisten ty\u00f6paikkojen kieliratkaisuja keskittyen erityisesti tietoty\u00f6aloihin, sill\u00e4 n\u00e4ill\u00e4 aloilla kielell\u00e4 on erityisen suuri rooli ty\u00f6nteossa ja osana ammattitaitoa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Teksti etenee erilaisia ty\u00f6paikkojen kieliratkaisuja esitellen. Ensin k\u00e4sittelemme vaihtoehtoa, jossa ty\u00f6paikoilla k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n kotimaisten kielten sijaan kokonaan jotain muuta kielt\u00e4 \u2013 k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4 englantia. Toinen yleinen valinta on pit\u00e4yty\u00e4 kotimaisissa kieliss\u00e4 (t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tekstiss\u00e4 keskitymme l\u00e4hinn\u00e4 suomeen), mutta pyrki\u00e4 ottamaan huomioon se, ett\u00e4 ty\u00f6paikalla on my\u00f6s ihmisi\u00e4, joiden suomen kielen hallinta on vasta kehittym\u00e4ss\u00e4. At the same time, those reports also reveal that many employers are dissatisfied with their newly hired <strong>graduates\u2019 communication skills<\/strong>. In addition, increasing globalisation has led to the call for \u2018global graduates\u2019 who can function well in culturally diverse contexts. Considering both aspects, it is important to explore which factors help <strong>foster<\/strong> students\u2019 global communication skills. This paper investigates this issue, testing the impact of potential factors identified from previous literature. Data was collected from 2359 students in seven different institutions located in five different countries. A linear regression model was tested to identify those factors which most contribute to global communication skills development. Results show that motivation to improve communication skills and the experience of social and academic integration into the campus community made the most significant contribution to participants\u2019 higher levels of global communication skills development.
