…not yet the end of my semester abroad in Rovaniemi but the end of our International Destination Development Project. We did it! Today we had our final presentation about our own Arctic Circle Tour in Rovaniemi. After we created the Tour and came up with a lot of ideas we finished our group work and now it was the time to present everything to Teija. Everything went fine as we planned it and I’m really proud of my group and the ideas we came up with. At the beginning I was concerned about the task, since nobody could imagine Rovaniemi as a heritage site and nobody had any experience in designing a Guided Tour for an unknown city. While exploring Rovaniemi, the Arktikum, the Airport of Rovaniemi and the Roosevelt Cabin we had so much fun together and we learned a lot we didn’t know so far. In the end we created a Tour for young and for old, for national and international visitors and with a view changes I’m sure it would work out in reality.
Another topic we had a lot of fun with was our Instagram Account “Arctic.Circlers”. We really wanted to win the competition but unfortunately it was harder than expected to get likes for our site. But it was worth a try and finding spots for our pictures and keeping our 18 Followers updated was a lot of fun. To sum it up I have to say it was a nice project with great people and I’m really proud of what we did. That was a great experience and you never know, probably in a few years when I’m coming back to Rovaniemi I will have the chance to take part in an Arctic Circle History Tour!
