Arctic Research Community is a partnership formed by
- University of Lapland
- Lapland University of Applied Sciences
- Geological Survey of Finland (GTK)
- Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke)
to boost research, development and innovation in Finnish Lapland.
Arctic Research Community brings together four strong research and development organisations in Lapland, boosting their research cooperation and business collaboration capacity.
Together with the Arctic Development Environments Cluster and collaborating companies, the aim is to
- create innovations and bring them to market with the help of high quality research
- identify and access financing opportunities
- cooperate locally and internationally.
Lapland University of Applied Sciences is the northernmost UAS in Finland and in the EU focusing on higher education and research, development and innovations. Lapland UAS’s research, development and innovation (RDI) activities are multidisciplinary.
Researchers and specialists working in Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) provide new solutions towards the sustainable development of the Finnish bioeconomy and the promotion of new biobased businesses. Together with its partners, Luke will build a society based on bioeconomy.
The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) is a leading European competence center on the assessment and sustainable use of geological resources. For its customers and partners GTK provides geological expertise to create solutions for more sustainable growth.
Located in the city of Rovaniemi, Finland, on the Arctic Circle, the University of Lapland is an international, multidisciplinary university whose areas of expertise include art and design, education, law, social sciences, as well as Northern and Arctic issues and tourism research.
