Objectives/Outcomes: Project aimed to safeguard people living in North Atlantic coastal communities and help them adapt to the impacts of climate change. Five pilot study sites in Iceland, Norway, Ireland and Scotland have been identified to determine the issues experienced by local communities.To create the CoastAdapt web-based readily accessible knowledge and information resource, providing coastal climate change adaptation information, data, and resources generated by the project suitable for the use of North Atlantic coastal communities and authorities.The improved knowledge and awareness of adaptation to climate change engendered by CoastAdapt will assist municipalities and authorities adopt and ‘mainstream’ coastal related adaptation measures into planning policy.The project will also identify opportunities presented by a changing climate and promote the development of these opportunities in, for example, environmental tourism.
