Have you ever come across a beautiful scene but don’t know how to fully convey it through photos? Why do you have a professional camera and a high-end phone, but the photos are still not as good as expected? If so, you really should quickly memorize these photography tips.

1. Pay attention to the light

Light plays an integral role in photography. Before pressing the shutter, make sure if there is enough light and it doesn’t create distracting effects such as bright spots on the face, squinting, etc…

In addition, the golden times to take photos of the day are during sunset and before dawn because the warm sunny colors from the sun below are often favorable conditions to enhance the colors.

2. Take multiple shots

Even a professional photographer may not get a satisfactory photo on his first try. Feel free to press the shutter, a masterpiece will appear after the process of sifting thousands of other pictures.

3. Use Flash properly

The light from the Flash can make the image worse, causing many unpleasant effects when shooting in the dark such as:

  • Red eyes, glowing eyes
  • The color of the image is dazzling
  • Blurred skin

However, the Flash becomes useful in backlit conditions, where you can get rid of bad shadows with a gentle flash.

4. Change perspective

You don’t need to see the object in the same angle. Try moving around, standing and sitting, even lying down. It may help you find an unexpected look for your pictures. Also keep in mind that a low angle shot makes the subject in the photo look bigger while the angle shot from above often gives the opposite effect.

 5. Layout – Rule of Thirds

The rule of thirds can be understood as follows:

An image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.

– Bryan F. Peterson, Learning to see creatively.

Center is a great place, but not the best position for a subject in photography. Place it at one of the 4 points where the dividing lines intersect. As a result, you will get a more balanced and attractive photo.

6. Imperfection is key

Photography is art and art should not be conformed to a certain set of rules. You understand them to break them. All you need to do is pick up your camera and capture the moment.
