How to travel safely during Covid-19

Many of us enjoy travelling and for a moment it was nearly impossible due to Covid-19 and travel restrictions. Now that the borders are slowly opening and travelling abroad is possible again, it is important to keep safety in mind. Here are some useful tips of how to do so!

Before your travel

It is good to check beforehand where can you actually travel and if it’s safe. To find out easily where you can go, check the Finnair’s interactive map for travel requirements. I have used the tool myself and have found it very useful when planning my trip.

Here are some things to keep in mind before travelling:

• Consider travelling locally or nationally to support your local companies, you can have fun at your family’s cabin as well and it’s almost free!
• If travelling abroad, make sure you can actually go where you want to avoid disappointment
• Don’t book your flights and hotels too early since restrictions can change quickly
• Check if you need to fill out forms or get tested before your departure (especially important if you book your trip a week before departure like I did)

With these in mind you are one step closer to new experiences! Now all you need to do is wait for the departure which usually feels like the longest time ever.

During your travel

Once you have left from home your holiday has begun, well almost. Although you may not be in your destination yet, you can enjoy the scenery. It’s not about the destination but the journey, however in this case it is almost always about the destination. It is good idea to bring a friend with you to keep you company, but be bring some entertainment as well in case they start to get on your nerves.

It is good to keep safety in mind during your travel especially if you’re using public transport like trains or airplanes:

• Wear face coverings if they are required
• Take good care of hand hygiene
• Keep a safe distance to others when possible (mostly impossible at popular destinations)

If you want to stay proper safe, you could consider staying home and go through your old travel photos instead.
