How Can We Help?
Cross-institutional studies
Students Enrolled Through the Cross Study Service
If your course is part of the cross study service offerings, students from other universities will appear in the course’s enrollment view. These students can be distinguished from your own university’s students by an icon in the Status column, which allows you to view the student’s home university information. You can see the home university’s study rights information by hovering over the three-dot icon.
Teachers cannot add students who have enrolled through the cross study service to the course; therefore, students must always enroll themselves.
Please note that there may be more students enrolled through the cross study service than there are quota places reserved for cross-institutional students. Therefore, check the quotas before accepting students enrolled through the cross study service to the course. The quotas for the cross study service can be checked on the Quota Groups tab (see below). On this tab, you can see how many places are reserved for students enrolled through each cross-institutional network.
By clicking the Breakdown of enrollments button, you can view the enrollment status of different quota groups (degree, open, paid education, cross-institutional) for the course. When you open the window, the modal shows the number and status of students enrolled in the course.
Students are divided in the window as follows:
- Degree students
- Open studies students
- Quota group students
Student enrollment is accepted or rejected in the same way as for your own students. A cross-institutional student gains study rights at the University of Lapland upon the first accepted enrollment. If this is the student’s first enrollment in studies at the University of Lapland, the student number will change from an R-prefix to a Y-prefix after the enrollment is accepted.
Assessment of Cross-Institutional Achievements
You can assess the achievements of cross-institutional students and modify or correct them in the course assessment views in the same way as for your own university’s students. A cross-institutional student can be distinguished by their own three-dot icon.
Assessed achievements and their modifications or corrections are automatically transferred to the student’s home university as normal achievements.
