Biotalouden sivuvirtojen hyödyntämisen haasteena ovat mm. alkutuotannon hajaantumien ympäri Lappia, vuodenaikaisvaihtelut ja logistiikan haasteet. Sivuvirtojen aiempaa tehokkaampi hyödyntäminen vaatii alan liiketoimintamallien uudistamista ja yhteistyötä yli toimialarajojen.
Porukkaoppi-hanke vastaa poroteurastajien koulutustarpeeseen muuttuvien säädösten maailmassa, jossa osaamista on ylläpidettävä jatkuvasti. Lapin AMK, Paliskuntain yhdistys sekä Saamelaisalueen koulutuskeskus tekevät yhteistyötä tiivistääkseen erilaiset käytänteet teurastustoiminnan hyväksi toimintamalliksi.

Lappi kuten myös muu Suomi on elin- ja toimintaympäristöltään puhdasta. Myös pohjoisimmille alueille kertyy ympäristömyrkkyjä ilmakehän virtausten mukana. Tämän takia mikään valtio ei voi yksin estää ympäristönsä turmeltumista. Raportteja ympäristön tilasta julkaistaan jatkuvasti, joissakin myös Lappi on mukana.
Suomen taloudellisen, poliittisen, tieteellisen ja tiedonvälityksen eliitin tajuntoihin on iskostunut vahva usko suuruuden ideologiaan. Todellisuudessa Suomi on pienten keskusten ja suuren maaseudun maa. Eliittimme elää luolassaan strategioineen, visoineen ja innovaatiojärjestelmineen.
